Everything an NSman needs in one page: the window, your three routes to clear it, and the edge-case rules (partial failure, exemptions) that trip people up.
Calculate My IPPT Score →Your IPPT window runs from your birthday to the day before your next birthday. Every window, you must fulfil the fitness requirement in one of three ways:
| Route | What counts |
|---|---|
| Pass IPPT | 51+ points with at least 1 point in every station, at any FCC attempt in the window. Passing also ends any NS FIT obligation immediately. |
| Complete NS FIT | 10 sessions within the window, one of which must be an IPPT attempt. Track them with the NS FIT Tracker. |
| ICT-IPPT | Take IPPT during In-Camp Training as part of your unit's programme — it counts toward the same window. |
If you are an IPPT-eligible NSman aged 35 or above, MINDEF requires you to complete the SAF Health Screening Programme (HSP) every year before attempting IPPT or NS FIT, and only a Low Cardiac Risk outcome lets you participate. Key facts from MINDEF's published answers:
The next window becomes a Mandatory NS FIT window. Do not let it slide — book early through OneNS (slots open 3 months ahead; see how to book).
Under MINDEF's rules, scoring 51+ overall but 0 in a static station is not a pass and not a plain fail — it is a partial failure. You must retest only the failed station within 90 days or before your window ends, whichever is earlier. No incentive is paid on a partial retest. Our calculator flags this case explicitly.
If you hold an official medical exemption from one or both static stations, you take a modified test against pro-rated passing standards — 39 of 75 (one static + run) or 26 of 50 (run only), per MINDEF's published answers. The calculator's exemption mode applies these automatically.
Pass with Incentive pays $200, Silver $300, Gold $500 — full rules, payment timing and retake top-ups are in the IPPT Incentives guide.
From your birthday to the day before your next birthday. Within it you must pass IPPT, complete 10 NS FIT sessions (including one IPPT attempt), or take IPPT during ICT.

Your next window becomes a Mandatory NS FIT window — the requirement carries over with less flexibility, so clear each window on time.
