You do not have to pass IPPT to clear your annual fitness requirement. NS FIT is the other route — here is exactly how it works.
Calculate My IPPT Score →NS FIT (NS Fitness Improvement Training) replaced the old IPT/RT system. It gives NSmen a second way to fulfil their annual fitness requirement: instead of passing IPPT outright, complete 10 NS FIT sessions — one of which must be an IPPT attempt — within your IPPT window.
| Route | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Pass IPPT | 51+ points, at least 1 point per station, any attempt in your window |
| Complete NS FIT | 10 sessions including 1 IPPT attempt, within your window |
Your NSman IPPT window runs from birthday to birthday. If you already attempted IPPT in the same window and did not pass, that attempt can count as the IPPT component of your 10 sessions. And if you pass IPPT partway through NS FIT, you have fulfilled the requirement — the remaining sessions are no longer needed.
You can choose NS FIT voluntarily inside your window. But if your window closes without a pass and without completing the programme, the next window becomes a Mandatory NS FIT window: the same 10 sessions, now compulsory. Voluntary, on your schedule, is always the better version.
Treat the sessions as coached training, not a penalty. Book them early in your window, space them weekly, and put your IPPT attempt late in the block when the training has had time to work. Many NSmen pass during NS FIT and never finish the 10.
10 sessions in total, and one of them must be an IPPT attempt, all within your IPPT window.
You have fulfilled your annual requirement and do not need to complete the remaining sessions.
Your next window becomes a Mandatory NS FIT window, where the 10 sessions are compulsory.
